The healthy stomach normally secretes adequate amounts of hydrochloric acid (HCl) and pepsin for the complete digestion of foods, in particular proteins. Many factors can disrupt acid production such as infections (even something as simple as a cold), surgery, stress or trauma, fever, candidiasis, spicy foods, foods eaten too hot or too cold and certain drugs.
Features
· Provides HCl as betaine hydrochloride and pepsin
· Pepsin hydrolyses all types of proteins, reducing them to polypeptides
· HCl provides the optimal environment (around pH 2) for pepsin activity
· Adequate levels of HCl are required for the absorption of minerals such as iron, calcium and zinc
· HCl provides an inhibitory environment for potential pathogenic bacteria ingested with food
· Encapsulation allows for a quicker release of the ingredients and reduces the likelihood of gastric wall irritation that can sometimes occur with tablets
· Low potency and allows for more flexibility in adjusting individual requirements
Recommended Intake
One capsule taken three times a day with food and a glass of water or to be taken as professionally directed.
NB. HCl & Pepsin capsules should not be opened or chewed.
